In the 1950's and the nation is still recovering from war. Witty Kate is interested in marriage, but not if it means becoming a self-effacing housewife. Besides, she's expressed anger against her negligent father and manipulative sister for so long that she's forgotten how to express anything else. Daredevil Petruchio is seeking a wealthy wife to provide his business with capital.
