Chris Schwartz of Ruffhouse Records Presents A Revolution of Noise
Ruffhouse Records CEO and co-founder Chris Schwartz presents a multimedia retrospective of the groundbreaking hip-hop label. Schwartz is the author of "Ruffhouse: From the Streets of Philly to the Top of the '90s Hip-Hop Charts" (Diversion Books), which was released on June 18th. Schwartz will also answer questions from the audience and will autograph copies of the book, which will be available for sale at the event.
As the leader of Ruffhouse Records, Schwartz, along with his partner Joe Nicolo, built the label into one of the most successful hip-hop record companies in the world. Throughout the 90s, Ruffhouse was home to the biggest names in hip hop. The roster included The Fugees, Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, Cypress Hill, NAS, Kriss Kross, DMX, Beanie Sigel, State Property, and Schoolly D among others. Ruffhouse Records sold over 130 million records worldwide generating over $1 billion in sales and a multitude of Grammy Awards. Schwartz has been the recipient of many awards including 250 gold and platinum records.
