JOAN JAFFE - LITTLE GIRL BLUE
LITTLE GIRL BLUE, explores the classic songs and standards of some of the finest ladies in jazz, including a selection from some of the great female artists June Christy, Carmen McRae, Cleo Laine and Rosemary Clooney, and music from the pens of composers Rogers and Hart to Leonard Bernstein. JAFFE is at home singing in her favorite setting, the intimate cabaret room in this exciting set of classic vocal Jazz, with a special guest appearance by actor, comedian CHARLES BARAN. Musical director is KUNI MIKAMI.
JOAN JAFFE - WINNER MAC Award - Best Musical Comedy Performer, was voted One Of The Top15 in New York Cabaret 2010. Her debut album JOAN JAFFE SINGS FUNNY.... was launched at Barnes and Noble, Lincoln Center. She was honored to present her first Jazz concert at The Concert Space, Beethoven Pianos, NYC, with the brilliant Jazz pianist, Matt Baker.
Not only is Jaffe a reputable cabaret director, she has regularly been seen on TV and film appearing in the recurring role of Gail Abbot in ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK (Season 6) and appearances on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN OBRIEN. Among her film appearances are THE SAVAGES, Disney's ENCHANTED and THE PRODUCERS.
Her first jazz concert SOMETHING COOL, presented at The Concert Space at Beethoven Piano (NYC), featured her musical director, brilliant jazz pianist Matt Baker. SOMETHING COOL was again presented at Pangea last year..

CHARLES BARAN, WINNER MAC Award - Best Male Debut, is an actor, comedian, writer and storyteller. He was most recently seen starring in the title role of AUNT JACK at Theatre for The New City. Charles has written two screenplays, THE DELIVERY GUY and THE IGUANA IN THE PARKING LOT. He is working on his first book, a memoir of growing up gay in the 70's in Elmhurst, Queens. www.charlesbaran.com
Kuni Mikami
Famed jazz pianist KUNI MIKAMI was Lionel Hamptons pianist from 1991 until Hamptons passing in August 2002. During that time he also played with Illinois Jacquet, The Duke Ellington Orchestra and is currently performing with the Cab Calloway Orchestra and the Kuni Mikami Trio. He tours his native Japan performing in more than 50 cities in 80 days tour annually. In 2011 Kuni established his own record label 9245 Records. www.kunimikami.com
