Friday, August 23, 7pm (6:15pm pre-concert talk with Lisa Bergman) Opening Night: Schuberts Cello Quintet Maier Hall at Peninsula College Opening night on August 23 features Schuberts transcendent Cello Quintet alongside works by Dvorak and Barrière. This program features two principals from the Grammy-winning Saint Paul Chamber Orchestraviolinist Kyu-Young Kim and violist Maiya Papach.
Saturday, August 24, 7pm (6:15pm pre-concert talk with Lisa Bergman) Ani Aznavoorian plays Shostakovich Maier Hall at Peninsula College Our second program on August 24 showcases cellist Ani Aznavoorian, a returning festival favorite, in Shostakovichs dynamic Cello Sonata as well as the romantic and underperformed Piano Quintet in F by American composer Amy Beach.
Sunday, August 25, 3pm (2:15pm pre-concert talk with Lisa Bergman) Stefan Jackiw and Orion Weiss in Recital Maier Hall at Peninsula College On August 25, our 2019 Special Guest Artists are on display in a matinee recital featuring works by Bach, Lutoslawski, and Beethoven. Dont miss two of Americas most in-demand concert artists, violinist Stefan Jackiw and pianist Orion Weiss in recital. They will take your breath away!
Friday, August 30, 7pm (6:15pm pre-concert talk Lisa Bergman) Quartet(s) for the End of Time Maier Hall at Peninsula College Our fourth program on August 30th features two masterpieces inspired by, or created during, World War II. Olivier Messiaens masterpiece, Quartet for the End of Time, was written when the composer was a prisoner-of-war under the Nazi regime. Also featured is Steve Reichs emotional journey Different Trains for string quartet.
