About the film:
Douglas Fairbanks stars as a swashbuckling aristocrat in disguise as an infamous pirate, fighting and pillaging. Released in 1926, the film is in remarkable two-strip Technicolor, and features romance, stunts, and sword fighting. The film was added to the United States National Film Registry in 1993. A stunning showcase for Fairbanks, The Black Pirate is regarded as one of the most important action adventure films ever made. The film has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
About Jack Curtis Dubowsky Ensemble:
JCDE sparks new life with original scores to classic silent films including Nosferatu, The Golem, The Phantom Carriage, Sunrise, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and The Mark of Zorro, for which they released a soundtrack album ZORRO in 2017. A team of top
players led by composer and conductor Jack Curtis Dubowsky, JCDE combines intricately composed material and structured improvisation. The ensemble has released four albums and has performed in local historic cinemas including The Art
Theatre, and noted venues nationwide including The Tank (NYC), Meridian Gallery (SF), AS220 (Providence, RI) and The Lilypad (Cambridge, MA).
