Workshop with Gyongyi: Layering
"Do you sometimes feel you lack fancy, trendy, or pretty combinations or movements? Or do you feel that what you know is just "not enough"? Please allow me to prove you wrong. In my opinion, there aren't "new moves" to belly dance, or any kind of a dance, only new and creative ways to use the basics. In this workshop, I show you how to apply a very effective and understandable movement analysis system called the Laban method for creating combinations and choreography. We'll cover some theory, and implement into practice. We'll learn a short combination and use it in three different belly dance styles. And I'll share my tricks, tips, and concepts on how I've used layering to adapt combinations to different styles, and how I've customized to my own personal style. I'd like you to discover the fact that anyone is capable of using this method. It's so much fun and can teach you more about the body than you would imagine! Use your body and existing knowledge as an endless source of combinations, new motions, and movements." --Gyongyi
