"Road Trip"
In life as in art, the road trip holds an archetypal place. Sal Paradise found Dean Moriarty, Saint Paul found religion and Bilbo Baggins found the One Ring, all on the road. What is it about the smell of hot upholstery, the wheel vibrating in our palms and that double yellow line spooling out into canyon country that pulls at our imaginations so?
"Road Trip," the first installment of the Hugo Literary Series 2008-2009 season, is Friday, October 24, 2008, 7:30 p.m. at Richard Hugo House and features new writing from Aimee Bender, Marie Howe and Matt Ruff and new songs by Laurie Katherine Carlsson.
Individual tickets for "Road Trip" include admission to the Saturday programming, a panel curated by Matt Ruff. Classes are not included with the cost of the ticket; a separate registration and fee are required. To register, call (206) 322-7030.
