The Market Street Dixieland Jass Band represents New Orleans style Jazz, Ragtime, Stomps and Blues at its best. This aggregation of fine players features music from the early 1900s through the 1930s, played in the irresistable dixieland style. From Buddy Bolden and Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton and Joe King Oliver, Bix Beiderbecke and Louis Armstrong, 1920s torch songs and the 1940s trad revival, these musicians bring to life the toe-tappin, vibrant and exciting sounds of Crescent City jazz. Led by the cornetist Ansgar Duemchen, who has more than 25 years musical experience playing traditional jazz in Europe and the United States, these musicians present a class show that covers more than 50 years of American popular songs.
