David Starr - Americana songwriter - released an evocative new album, South and West, on June 8. The project draws inspiration from the bountiful songwriting community in Nashville, as well as the beautiful backdrop of the Grand Mesa near his home in Cedaredge, Colorado.

The albums lead single, Dont Give Me Hope, features harmonies by Irene Kelley, who co-wrote the song with Starr. Dont Give Me Hope.

Starr served as sole producer of South and West. A reimagined cover of Elton John and Bernie Taupins Country Comfort is nestled among 11 songs that Starr wrote or co-wrote. The full-length project follows an acclaimed EP titled The Head and Heart, which was produced by John Oates. David Starr has a voice you will never forget. His music is authentic, his songs are honest, full of emotion and truth, Oates says.

The release of South and West coincides with the grand opening of the Grand Mesa Arts Center in Cedaredge, an intimate event space brought to fruition through strong community support. Starr helped design the space in order to attract traveling musicians and exhibiting visual artists to Southwestern Colorado. Starr also owns and operates Starrs Guitars in Cedaredge, a vibrant community located on the Grand Mesa, the largest flat-top mountain in the world.

Havilah Rand  Havilahs music moves across genres with ease, glancing against various facets of jazz, country, folk, blues, to stand alone as a thing in itself. Her phrasing is remarkable, syllables stretched slowly with elegance and laid down against and over each other like braids- Scot Casey, Whats Up Magazine
Her songs fall in that country-rock area, but more like a singer-songwriter with country influences, with her voice a country-fried cross between Stevie Nicks and Sheryl Crow with a little Lucinda Williams grit.  Mac MacDonald, Monterey Herald
Like the trapped butterfly that Havilah sings of, she has definitely found her hole in the screen. This album is sure to take flight and be lifted on the currents of smart lyrics and a wonderfully familiar soothing voice that can rock on a dime. Lane Gosnay  The Bugle Boy / Founder

Havilah began her music career at the age of 6 when she began composing songs on an old piano given to her family by some friends. Heavily influenced early on by James Taylor, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Rolling Stones, The Police and a wide range of other styles, Havilahs songs immediately took on an identity of their own. Havilahs soulful and passionate vocal style would lead her to Interlochen Arts Academy and then on to Manhattan School of Music where she would train formally in both jazz and classical technique. Songwriting remained her true love and she soon left New York City for Seattle where she fronted pop-rock band Wish before picking up the guitar and moving on to a solo career of touring and recording. Havilahs first three albums were recorded in the Pacific Northwest where she fell into a tight knit community of artists and musicians. After a years of touring regionally and nationally for over a decade, Havilah moved to Europe in 2006 where she was warmly welcomed in Ireland, the UK and Mediterranean. She departed Barcelona wistfully in 2007 to relocate to the Live Music Capital of the World Austin, TX where she now lives. She has earned herself a steady audience and a respected name in a town where the caliber of musicianship is nothing less than stellar. A High Wave is a compilation of original songs inspired by a life of walking the road less traveled and expressing the deepest of thought and emotion through music.
