The Camellia Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Christian Baldini are proud to support and promote the talent of our future generations of artists, in close collaboration with Prof. Robin Fisher and her voice studio at Sacramento State's School of Music. In 2015, CSO launched the Rising Stars series, featuring young exceptional musicians as our soloists with the orchestra. We have featured violinists, pianists and cellists. For the first time, in 2020, we are producing the operatic version of our Rising Stars series.
We will feature seven remarkable young singers, some of whom are already making an international mark. The repertoire will include some favorites, as well as some lesser known works, including arias, duos and trios by Mozart, Delibes, Verdi, Puccini, Rossini and Wagner.
All seven singers have a connection with Sacramento, due to having either studied here (at Sac State), or having been raised or born here. We're delighted that mezzo-soprano Monica Danilov has accepted our invitation to participate in this program, coming especially from Bogotá (Colombia) to join us. Also on the roster are also the exceptionally talented Katie Thorpe, Galina Orlova, Amandine Edwards, Matt Hidalgo, Aaron Gallington and Justin Birchell. We are delighted to be showcasing their extraordinary talent with our audience, all accompanied by our committed musicians in the Camellia Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Baldini, whose operatic credentials have taken him to conduct productions at English National Opera, Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires), Aldeburgh Festival (England), and as the music director of the Rising Stars of Opera of the Mondavi Center, in collaboration with the San Francisco Opera.
