Henry the Fourth, Part One, is one of Shakespeares greatest plays. As a sequel to the play Richard 2, the noblemen who helped Bolingbroke become Henry 4 are now disgruntled and feeling unappreciated, so they plot to put Mortimer on the throne (Richard had appointed Mortimer as his heir). Prince Hal (the future Henry 5) roisters in the taverns, while his father compares him to another Henry, Henry Percy, known as Hotspur. And of course we have the inimitable Falstaff.

Parallel views of the noblemen going to war and the lower class going to war offer amazing commentary on war and equality, honor and dishonor, cowardice and valor, as well as father figures.
