Cheah Chan Duo presents "A Reminiscence Sing"
Cheah Chan Duo is excited to close its landmark 10th season with an evening dedicated to the celebrated American poet, Walt Whitman, honoring his bicentennial year.
All the songs on the program feature settings of Whitman's poetry and prose, including pieces selected from the Duo's first ever Call for Scores. Among the works to be performed are Andrea Clearfield's eponymous "A reminiscence sing", Darlene Mitchell's "In clouds descending", Jonathan Bailey Holland's "Must all then amount to but this?", Ben Schuman's "Passing Stranger", and songs by Scott Gendel, Jorge Martín, Ned Rorem, Dennis Tobenski, and Craig Urquhart. The Duo is also proud to be presenting the world premières of works by Alvaro Gallegos, Irene Gregori, and Marc Ostrow.
