HOME MOVIES: Vintage: Families of Value W/ Thomas Allen Harris & Guests Q+A
VINTAGE: FAMILIES OF VALUE
Directed by Thomas Allen Harris 1995, 72 min, 16mm
Thomas Allen Harris explores the intersections of race, family, and sexuality in this pioneering essay film, which focuses on three groups of queer black siblings (including the director and his brother) and the dynamics that have evolved between themselves, their families, and the worlds through which they travel. Jumping between multiple film stocks and video formats, interviews and monologues, and vérité and fantasy, Harriss film makes the literal lyrical and the intimate epic, creating a fluid portrait of identity as forged by the familial.
Following the screening on Saturday, June 8, Harris will be joined in conversation by filmmaker Jennie Livingston (PARIS IS BURNING).
Following the screening on Sunday, June 16, Harris will be joined in conversation by writer Pamela Sneed.
