Musique on the Bluff
The tradition of celebrity narrators in Saint-Saƫns' hilarious and touching Carnival of the Animals is continued with Duquesne President Kenneth Gormley performing the honors. This "Grand Zoological Fantasy" will be heard in its original chamber version conducted by Daniel Meyer, preceded by David Allen Wehr and his longtime piano partner Cynthia Raim in three French masterpieces. This all-French program ranges from sambas to lullabies to cancans, with lions, swans, elephants, birds, fish, chickens, tortoises, and many more exotic creatures.
