Washington Distillers Guild: Sensory Evaluation Seminar

This seminar is an overview of how sensory evaluation & analysis fits into the QA/QC program of your production facility.
Featuring a presentation by Doug Hindman, the Brewmaster for Elliot Bay Brewing & MBAA Board Member. He will explore the basics of sensory evaluation and the best practices for developing a sensory analysis program.
The seminar will also include a moderated panel of brewers and distillers who will discuss how they utilize sensory analysis to meet their QA/QC goals and create innovative new products. Panelists: Elizabeth Hackendorf (QC/QA Manager at Elysian Brewing Company) Kirby Kallas-Lewis (Founder/Head Distiller, Oola Distillery) Jason Parker (Co-Founder/President, Copperworks Distilling) Tyler Pederson (Production Manager, Westland Distillery) Attendees of the seminar will also get a walkthrough of the "Hot Steep" method for evaluating the flavor and aroma of grains. Towards the end of the seminar, the attendees will be led through a sensory evaluation of the "malt tea" that was created earlier during the presentations. Make sure to download the DraughtLab app to your phone prior to the event, as we will be using it to conduct the sensory evaluations.
