Songwriters Night with Lisa Jeanette, Karen Dahlstrom, John Beacher and Scott Wolfson
Aaron Nathans and Avi Wisnia host Songwriters Night, a monthly residency showcasing some of the best local and touring songwriters. July's event features Lisa Jeanette, Karen Dahlstrom, John Beacher and Scott Wolfson presented in the round.
About Lisa Jeanette: Lisa Jeanette is a native Philadelphian and singer-songwriter who has recently released her debut album "Chasing Happy." The best way to describe Jeanette's style of music is Kaleidoscope Folk, which represents a wide variety of genres in a diverse collection of songs. The youngest of nine, Jeanette took to timesharing her siblings' guitars while growing up, and also learned piano, organ, and double-bass which sometimes all make their way into her recordings. Jeanette is now working on her sophomore yet-to-be-titled release. For more information visit www.lisajeanette.com.
About Karen Dahlstrom: Karen Dahlstrom is a performing songwriter based in Brooklyn, New York. She has been part of the local Americana music scene for more than a decade, most notably as a member of the harmony-driven folk band Bobtown. Her debut solo EP, "Gem State," was hailed by Americana UK as a "wonderfully sinister debut." Dahlstrom is a two-time finalist in the Grassy Hill New Folk Contest at the Kerrville Folk Festival. She's currently at work on a new collection of solo songs, and on Bobtown's soon-to-be-released fourth album. For more information visit www.karendahlstrom.com.
About John Beacher: A dynamic songwriter, natural performer and "hope enthusiast," John Beacher has built his decade-long career not only with talent but a genuine spirit and kind heart. Beacher's music is a homecoming for the soul, timeless and sincere, and taps into a source that runs far deeper than the songwriter himself. His ability to connect with his audience, as well as improvise on guitar and voice, makes each performance an entirely unique and interactive reflection of the his surroundings. About Scott Wolfson: Scott Wolfson has been performing and recording professionally since the age of 13. A graduate of New York University's music and theatre programs and a veteran of the New York City indie-folk scene, Wolfson's band Other Heroes regularly tours the Northeast having been "Most Wanted" artists at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and playing numerous times at the Philadelphia Folk Festival. Both of their albums topped the folk charts and were on many DJs' "Best of Year" lists. Other Heroes just finished recording their third album due to be released in September.
