The Singer's AUDITION Boot Camp
WHAT YOU WILL GET: Acting and presentational skills specifically for singing auditions. Practical empowering tools to help replace feelings of self-doubt and fear with confidence and certainty at auditions. Master classes in vocal technique and musicality. A class on preparing resumes and photos. An audition before a panel of professional musical and stage directors The workshop will be limited to 15-18 students in order to provide a more personal and small ensemble experience.
WHO SHOULD APPLY: This workshop caters to the serious minded, legitimate singer who wants to audition for singing jobs, young artist programs or college. Singers will learn to turn obstacles into opportunities and present a confident and professional audition. REQUIREMENTS: Have performed solo repertoire from memory in front of an audience. Have a recommendation from your voice teacher or vocal coach to participate. Have your musical selections memorized before the workshop begin. FACULTY BIOS:
SUSAN GUNDUNAS is a critically acclaimed, award winning singer and actress who has performed leading roles in operas, plays, musicals, recitals and concerts in Germany and across the United States. When not performing, she teaches voice privately in San Francisco and at UC Berkeley. In 2012 she started the "Complete Package Performer" bootcamp in order to give singers a practical chance to hone their craft in a supportive, uplifting but rigorous setting. For more information please visit her website at www.susangundunas.com. DR. KRISTINA DRISKILL has enjoyed an operatic career for the past twenty years. She serves on the voice faculty at Chapman University and teaches Marketing for Singers and Performance Techniques for OperaWorks' summer intensive programs. Her students have continued on to sing in opera houses including English National Opera, San Francisco Opera, and Los Angeles Opera. She is also an accomplished pet portrait painter and the creator of My Pet Project, which serves animals in need by donating a significant portion of portrait sales to animal shelters.
JANE RANDOLPH'S 25 years of experience teaching voice to students has led her across North America, from L'Atelier de L'Opéra de Montréal and L'Université de Montréal to establishing private studios in San Diego, San Francisco and New York. Her students have sung in major national and international opera companies and have been winners of countless prestigious competitions, such as the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the San Francisco Opera Auditions and the Operalia-Domingo Competition. After completing her studies at the University of California-Santa Barbara, the University of California-Los Angeles and the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg, Germany, Randolph spent four seasons as a coloratura soprano at the Staatstheater in Luzern, Switzerland. She subsequently enjoyed an extensive career in opera, recital and oratorio in the United States, Europe and Australia. Randolph is renowned for her commitment to her students as well as her passion for the art of singing. JEFFREY SYKES has been praised by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung as "a commanding solo player, the most supportive of accompanists, and a leader in chamber music,". He has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Western Europe. For the last eighteen years, Mr. Sykes served as the Music Director of Opera for the Young, a preeminent producer and presenter of opera for children that has introduced more than two million children to opera. He works extensively as a vocal coach throughout the US and teaches at the University of California at Berkeley. He also joined the faculty of California State University-East Bay in the fall of 2008 where he directs the piano accompanying and vocal coaching programs. RAEEKA YAGHMAI is an expert confidence coach for artists and creatives, voice teacher & professional opera singer. Her transformational coaching program "Confident Musician Mindset"(CMM) helps artists and creative at all levels in group or private settings to get rid of the self-doubt & the infamous ''starving artist" mentality, by building, empowering & sustaining their core confidence and mindset, so that they can perform at their optimal level, rock their auditions & performances, & create a prosperous,successful & happy life on and off stage. Her coaching program also helps successful and established creatives to preserve, promote and increase their potential. Recently she was invited as a guest speaker by the San Francisco Conservatory of Music's vocal department to share her coaching expertise.
