SUNDAY, AUGUST 18th. 7:00pm doors, 7:30pm show.

Last September Nick Drummond Band took a break from playing shows to record their debut album. The new material, written over the preceding year, reflects a collective approach - the songs are funky, intricate, and feature the skills and influences of the immensely talented group. They've also expanded their sound, adding Hammond B3 legend Joe Doria to their mix.

"It's been a dream process for me as a songwriter to get to write with and for this group of musicians," says Nick Drummond. "We'd take whatever raw material we had to work with and bounce it off of each other's brains and it just kept getting better and better. I feel immensely lucky."

The UNDER THE STARS shows will be the first and best chance to hear what the band has been working on ahead of the album's release.

Nick Drummond has been a performing songwriter for over 10 years, selling out multi-night runs at historic venues such as Seattle's Triple Door and Dimitrious Jazz Alley with legendary Pacific Northwest rock band The Senate (hailed by A Prairie Home Companions Garrison Keillor for their "Brilliant Dionysian music.") Drummond is also known for his work with former band Impossible Bird, and Seattle Weekly has praised his music as "An absolutely stellar combination of upbeat alt-folk thats mesmerizing and radiates talent."

Drummond's most recent album "FOLLOW THE RIVULETS" released in April 2016 has been widely praised by critics and music fans alike. Featuring a hand-picket lineup of some of Seattle's finest musicians, "RIVULETS" explores loss and heartache, as well as the salvation found in the company of friends, the refuge found in love and in oneself, and the peace we find in wondering at the stars. Nick's words and voice dance upon an incessant and infectious groove, and provides the type of melodies that keep a listener coming back for more.

________

Opening act Katie Kuffel is a tongue-in-cheek, Seattle-based musician smashing the piano in a manner that's not quite blues, not quite folk, and not quite like anything you've heard before. With songwriting that is both innovative and thoughtful, she explores community, feminism, and her personal experiences as an advocate against sexism and violence, with a contemporary sound that supports turbulent, poetic lyrics.

Classically trained in the cello, Katie began songwriting at an early age, composing original works with her instructors when her family inherited an old, upright piano (now housed in her Seattle apartment). She has since expanded to incorporate vocal looping and ukulele in her music. Katie stands by her belief that an artist is only as successful as their community, and strives to collaborate, support, and create opportunities for other Seattle-area musicians through projects, curation, and performance.

Katie has been featured as the musical act in popular podcast Welcome to Nightvale, and in PopMatters as one of the best musical hopes to break out in 2016.'
