Bucan Bucan and Blisk: Eastern European Celebration!

Victoria welcomes Blisk band from Toronto, featuring an all-female quartet of singer-musicians, performing polyphonic and tribal folk music from Eastern Europe, including Ukraine, Poland, Russian and beyond!
Victoria's Bucan Bucan Band will up the tempo with their dance-inducing Balkan beats!

BLISK is a musical journey travelling through Poland, Ukraine, Russia, the Balkans and beyond. This Toronto-based, all-female quartet was brought together by a deep love and respect for the ancient songs and dances of these regions, bringing the tunes to life for our modern world through unique original compositions, storytelling, dance, and distinctive arrangements of traditional folk music.
The bands original compositions are inspired by the places from which the members hail Poland, Ukraine, Russia/Kazakhstan, and Canada seamlessly intertwined and paired with traditional Eastern European repertoire that crosses cultural borders!

Made up of a very colourful and talented collection of musicians playing trumpets, violins, clarinets, tubas, accordions, trombones and drums, Bucan Bucan has been entertaining crowds for the last five years with its variety of traditional, eastern European brass band tunes and original material inspired by Balkan rhythms and melodies.
