Handmade Puppet Dreams and Gloria's Call presented by the LA Guild of Puppetry
The Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry presents a special screening of Heather Henson's Handmade Puppet Dreams film series, along with the short documentary film Gloria's Call.
Handmade Puppet Dreams is an award winning film series created by Heather Henson (daughter of famed puppeteers Jane and Jim Henson) that promotes independent artists exploring their handmade craft for the screen. These films focus on real-time puppetry, and create fantastical worlds in which their characters live. This special collection showcases Dak'toka Taino from director Alba E Garcia-Rivas, Yamasong from director Sam Koji Hale, Cosmic Fling from director Jonathan Langager, Amaterasu from director Christine Papalexis, and Bunny Love from director Pam Severns.
Gloria's Call is a documentary short from director Cheri Gulke follows Gloria Orenstein, on a lifelong journey into art, ecofeminism and shamanism. The short film uses art, stop-motion animation and storytelling to celebrate this wild adventure from the cafes of Paris to the mountaintops of Samiland.
A special display of puppets form the Handmade Puppet Dreams films will be available before the screening. Filmmakers from both Handmade Puppet Dreams and Gloria's Call will also be present for a Q&A afterwards!
June 8th, doors and puppet exhibition will start at 1 PM, the screening will begin at 2 PM
