DEAR YOKO - One Woman Show

Asian-American actress/playwright, Anzu Lawson, who plays Ashley Kim on NBCs CHICAGO MED, in her first one-woman show called DEAR YOKO (www.DEARYOKO.com) November 9th Saturday 1pm in The BFF 2019 at The Santa Monica Playhouse. Dear Yoko is the story of Anzus growth as a woman and an artist who grew up on American TV where Asians were sadly under and misrepresented. The only famous Asian woman at the time was Yoko Ono and the world made her a scapegoat.
In an odyssey that spans two continents, and 8 years of research that resulted in Anzu co-writing an all original 28-song Broadway bound musical called www.dearjohnwhyyokomusical.com , Anzu finally embraces her voice as a mixed-Asian American actress/storyteller navigating through Hollywoods pre #MeToo movement and post her mother Keikos death. By portraying the most hated and misunderstood Asian female artist in the world, Yoko Ono. Anzu finally finds her true purpose in life.
