Foodways Stories
Relax into the black box theatre at The Expo Arts Center with some of Bixby Knolls' best bites in hand, as local food innovators give short 5 minute "pechakucha" style talks in this event sponsored by Harbor Area Farmers Markets.
These fast-paced visually oriented talks will bring local food stories to life, highlighting ways that people, businesses and organizations are creating a more resilient local food system, from Food Finders and Food Forward to inspiring educators and chefs.
Bites from Chef Jason Witzl (Ellie's LB), Chef AC Boral (Rice and Shine, Enter the 36 Courses), Chef Maurice Yim (Pow Wow Pizza) and Dina Feldman (Feel Good Salsa) available at the beginning of the event.
Presenters will range from creative entrepreneurs and food access organizations to urban farmers, social media influencers and food justice community organizers.
Regional press will be invited to learn these stories alongside community members who want to support a more equitable local food system that values environmental stewardship, cultivates elevated taste, and brings forth a strong local economy.
FOODWAYS STORIES is graciously sponsored by Harbor Area Farmers Markets. Harbor Area Farmers Markets exist to help Market communities, encourage cross-section interaction of the population, support low-income and oppressed populations, and offer a venue particularly focused on maintaining small family farms.
