Seeds of our Future
A diverse urban agriculture movement has taken root in the greater Long Beach area. City policies have been modernized for use of private and public spaces, and communities have organized to create healthy food systems using many innovative models. From converting an old fire station into a teaching garden to residents growing prize-winning produce in their front yards, learn about the ways land use is changing in Long Beach and how we can further empower communities to grow their own food.
In an event hosted by Demitrius Ziegler of Long Beach Farms LLC, attendees will enjoy farm-fresh tacos from special guest chefs at Long Beach's largest non-profit urban farm, learning about how urban agriculture connects to land use, animal husbandry, education, and entrepreneurship.
