The Color of Food
The opening event of Long Beach Fresh's Foodways Summit is an exploration of the plant-based food revolution in the Afrocentric community. Held at Organic Harvest Gardens' beautiful North Long Beach farm, attendees will enjoy tastes from a plant-based buffet with offerings from Chefs Rod Dodd, Kyle Johnson (MarketLovr), and Osunkoya Chavon (Sunbelly Foods).
Enjoy hands-on activities for children and adults and healthy living demos curated by Hands in the Soil, a special performance by .rael and a keynote address by Kawani Brown (author and founder of Crafty Earth Mama, the Healthy Babies ad Kids Expo and Long Beach Vegan Festival). Opening DJ set by Senay Kenfe (The Natives, Eddie's Liquor Collective).
Adult admission can be purchased with or without a farm produce-infused cocktail. Children under 5 years old are free, and families are encouraged to attend.
THE COLOR OF FOOD is sponsored by the Long Beach Grocery Cooperative, a member-owned and operated consumer cooperative that is committed to providing the community with affordable, high quality, wholesome foods, and products for healthy living. The co-op is committed to supporting local agriculture and artisans and fair trade, educating our community on benefits of healthy eating, and using sustainable practices.
