Author Event with Mike Maden
With a Ph.D. focusing on areas of conflict, technology, and international relations and experience as a lecturer, political consultant, and media commentator on the topics of war, tech, and the Middle East, Mike Maden has brought his expertise to bear in his own critically acclaimed Drone series, which received praise from such genre luminaries as Clive Cussler and W. E. B. Griffin and exceptional reviews, with Publishers Weekly calling Drone an engrossing techno thriller and Kirkus Reviews praising Blue Warrior as a multifaceted political thriller that will delight tech junkies.
In 2017, Maden brought his ideal background and knowledge of war and tech to the family of Clancy co-authors and collaborators with Tom Clancy Point of Contact. His series debut hit #3 on the New York Times hardcover fiction bestseller list and was roundly praised by critics as a vintage Tom Clancy thriller (The Real Book Spy) with action [that] reaches Clancy levels early and stays there (Kirkus Reviews) that was sure to satisfy the legends longtime fans (Ft. Worth Star-Telegram). As Suspense Magazine wrote, [Maden] proves that he knows the ins-and-outs of an action story and can certainly take readers to the edge of their seats when it comes to thrills. It's nice to know that Tom Clancys creation will have more adventures ahead.
With 2018s Tom Clancy Line of Sight, Maden again proved his mettle as a worthy successor to the series. The Real Book Spy declared it Clancy-esque and one of the best thrillers of the year, while Chapter 16 raved, Maden proves he can carry the mantle of the king of techno-thrillers. . . With Maden at the helm, Jack Ryan, Jr. can count on a secure, and dangerous, future.
Now, Maden returns with his blistering third entry in the #1 New York Times-bestselling series featuring Tom Clancys world of indelible characters with TOM CLANCY ENEMY CONTACT, once again tapping into his incredible background as author and expert to hit the trifecta of what makes a great Clancy book: Toms terrific characters combined with edge-of-your-seat action scenes and the over-the-horizon prescience about world events.
ABOUT THE BOOK In ENEMY CONTACT, Jack Ryan, Jr. finds himself at odds with an international criminal conspiracy. An inside leak has allowed the CIAs deepest secrets to be given away for a larger agenda that threatens to undermine the entire Western intelligence community. Director of National Intelligence Mary Pat Foley wants it stopped but doesn't know who, how or why. Jack, meanwhile, is dispatched to Poland on a different mission. The clues are thin, and the sketchy trail dead ends in a harrowing fight where he barely escapes with his life. And as if that's not bad enough, Jack gets more tragic news: An old friend who's dying from cancer has one final request for Jack. It seems simple enough, but before it's done, Jack will find himself alone, his life hanging by a thread. If he survives, he'll be one step closer to finding the shadowy figure behind the CIA leak and its true purpose, but in the process, he'll challenge the world's most dangerous criminal syndicate with devastating consequences. With ENEMY CONTACT, Mike Maden delivers yet another spellbinding tale of international intrigue and suspense that could be ripped from tomorrows headlines, proving himself yet again to be worthy of carrying on not just Clancys #1 bestselling series, but also his legacy.
