Learn @ Lakewood: Considering Cremation?
More than half of all Americans are now choosing cremation, and even more in Minnesota -- probably including people you know. Why has it become so popular? What options are available? And what are some of the new and more permanent ways to create a lasting memorial, beyond an urn on a shelf?
Join us for a conversation at Lakewood to learn about cremation, including the process, answers to common questions and what to consider when choosing cremation.
We'll also tour Lakewood's historic and new crematories, located in the lower level of the beautiful Lakewood Chapel, where more than 1,400 cremations are performed each year. And we'll visit a few sites, indoor and out, where Lakewood has created space for preserving ashes in perpetuity.
Learn @ Lakewood is a new series that explores topics associated with death, dying and remembering. These workshops and seminars invite diverse perspectives and shine fresh light on meaningful subjects that haven't always been easy to talk about.
What past attendees have said about Lakewood seminars: "Great knowledgeable speakers. Beautiful venue." "I learned a lot in such a short time." "Main speaker struck just the right tone. Very informative. Just the right length." "Program covered many topics I wasn't aware of."
Parking & event details: This free session will be held at Lakewood Cemetery, in the reception room of the Lakewood Garden Mausoleum. Parking is available along roads inside the cemetery near the building.
