Vicinity/Memoryall: A Play
Two characters, Del and Lee, search for a memorial to an act of violence that had an explosive cultural impact on their rapidly shifting city, a quest that finds them navigating challenging physical and interpersonal landscapes. They share the stage with Clare, a vulnerable docent-like soul whose personal tales skirt the edges of Del and Lee's search. Written by Christine Deavel and J.W. Marshall, "Vicinity/Memoryall" investigates the power and purpose of memorials for individuals and the culture at large.
Director Meleesa Wyatt is joined by cast members Cecelia Frye, Bill Johns, Jasmine Lomax, and Mariah Lee Squires. Scenic design is by Parmida Ziaei and lighting design by Zanna King. Rosemary Jones serves as stage manager and Frankie Bychkova as assistant stage manager.
Please join us for the premiere of this 85-minute, one-act play, produced by VelMar Works with support from Artist Trust and Chudnovsky & Gardner.
NOTE: Unless a performance is listed here as sold out, tickets should be available at the door for each performance. The lobby opens an hour before showtime; the house opens a half hour prior.
LATE SEATING POLICY
Due to the intimate nature of the venue, no one will be seated once the play begins. We can't offer refunds to latecomers who aren't seated, and we reserve the right to resell seats that haven't been claimed by the advertised curtain time. Please plan to arrive in the neighborhood early enough to find parking. The comfortable lobby opens one hour before curtain time, and you can enjoy refreshments of all sorts.
