Asparafest Cookoff Contest in Union Gap
It's Finally Asparagus Season! Do you dare compete in the Visit Union Gap 1st ANNUAL ASPARAGUS COOKOFF CONTEST May 11th during Asparafest in Union Gap!?
Bring your BEST and compete for title of ASPARAGUS COOKOFF CHAMPION! Featured judge Lara Dunning of 'Small Town Washington & Beyond' plus two local judges will be on site for you to present your dish personally May 11th from 11:30-1pm at The Vine Venue.
Spectators are WELCOME to come watch the judging - first 30 spectators will receive 1 lb FREE asparagus from Fruit City! (Space limited to first 30 spectators).
SPECIAL ASPARAFEST DRAWINGS!
Attendees will have the chance to win prizes during the event including:
-Deep fried asparagus at Majors
-Asparagus and pepperjack cheese tamales from Los Hernandez
Contestants will be judged on Originality, Presentation, and most importantly, Taste! Judges TBA.
PRIZES:
*First prize: $25 Costco Gift Card. Plus, winner will have a photo of their prize-winning recipe, along with their name, featured on the Visit Union Gap website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter sites. The recipe published on the Visit Union Gap website.
*Second prize: A Boom Buoy Floating Wireless Speaker from Performance Auto Sound and social media features
*Third prize: $15 Gap Coffee Gift card and social media features
CONTESTANTS: Enter your best Asparagus recipe in any category. Contestants may not be considered "professional chefs," meaning you must not be in business or sell baked goods for profit.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
-Entry fee $5. You can pay here - or bring cash/check to event.
-Must deliver your recipe on-site at The Vine Venue by 11:30 AM on May 11th. You aren't required to stay.
- We are accepting registrations at the door.
-Entrants are required to bring:
*Dishes large enough to show off presentation.
*Dishes must be large enough for each judge to sample a full
portion (5 portions)
* 6 recipes printed to share with judges and spectators
ASPARAFEST will take place at various locations in Union Gap, May 11th including Fruit City, Majors Restaurant, Pepp'rmint Stick Drive-In, Old Town Pump Saloon, New York Teriyaki, Sea Galley & Los Hernandez Tamales.
