A Pan-Celtic Winter Sojourn with The J. P. Cormier Trio sponsored by Back River Music Works
This third edition of A Pan-Celtic Winter Sojourn is all about that tiny Celtic enclave at the northern most tip of Nova Scotia, Cape Breton. This evening will celebrate the season in music - the roots of the winter/holiday season as well as contemporary sensibilities - Celtic style. The songs will come from places that have earned a spot in our collective memory - Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, Wales, Galicia, Eastern Canada - and the messengers will be the most highly regarded and respected members of the lively Cape Breton music scene. Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, innovator, recording artist, award winner; his names are many, but underlying that is a man with an ancient soul who has traveled the world for the past 25 years bringing his unique brand of joy to audiences: J.P. Cormier. Cormier is accompanied by Hilda Chiasson-Cormier on piano and harmony vocals, and multi-instrumentalist Darren McMullen. Joining them will be award-winning fiddler Jennifer Roland, In addition to her position at the top of the fiddle class, Roland is an adept step-dancer. She has been known to demonstrate her two passions, fiddling and step-dancing, at the same time.
