UNDERGROUND 68 Film Screening
The 1960s counterculture rises again and shines a blazing light on todays realities at the Arlene Francis Center for Spirit, Art and Politics in Santa Rosa the evening of Thursday, June 13, 2019.
There will be a screening of the widely acclaimed film UNDERGROUND 68, the story of a Harvard student writing her 2017 senior thesis about campus opposition to the Vietnam war fifty years ago. She digs up more than she bargained for in the rebellious lives of artists, musicians and activists from the Harvard class of 1968. See https://www.underground-68.com/
Before the screening there will be a talk titled Bob Dylan and the Classics by Harvard classics professor Richard F. Thomas, author of the highly acclaimed book Why Bob Dylan Matters and co-producer of the UNDERGROUND 68 film.
Professor Thomas and UNDERGROUND 68 filmmaker Peter Coonradt will join the audience for a reception following the film. Live music will be provided by pianist Peter Larson playing themes he composed for the film, his arrangements of Bob Dylan tunes and some of his favorite melodies from his days as a pianist on Broadway.
Doors open for live music and mixer at 6:00 p.m. Professor Thomas will talk from 6:30 to 7:15. The film will screen at 7:30 with the reception and more live music from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m.
