Hollywood Heritage and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Present: Judy Garland on TV in the 1960's
JUDY GARLAND ON TV IN THE 1960s celebrates the personality of the legendary singer-actress in rare clips that showcase her in conversations as a guest on TV shows. This presentation commemorates the 50th anniversary of her passing on June 22, 1969 at age 47. Included will be her Mystery Guest segment of the popular "Whats My Line?" (1967); the only surviving footage of Judy on the "Gypsy Rose Lee Show" (1965); and brief overviews of her film career and 1963-64 TV series, created by our award-winning presenter Les Perkins. The highlight will be her warm and witty 1962 appearance on "The Jack Paar Program". She tells stories of growing up in vaudeville and at M-G-M. For the first time TV audiences got to see what a marvelous and hilarious storyteller Judy was, revealing her self-deprecating humor. She also sings songs from the animated "Gay Purr-ee" in which she was a starring voice. Jack Paar called this his favorite of all his shows (which were a precursor to The Tonight Show). Presenter Les Perkins has won more than 85 awards for Producing, Directing, and Editing documentaries, celebrity tributes, TV shows, promos, plus bonus content for DVDs and Blu-rays, especially for classic Walt Disney movies. He is also a life long Judy Garland aficionado. He shares these rarities from his personal collection.
Caterer Debbie Kimball will be offering a delicious array of goodies before the show... so come hungry! And we'll be hosting our fabulous $1 raffle after the program! You won't want to miss this, our final Evening @ the Barn program for the season!
