About
Director Vida Rose uses sci fi as a tool for social, environmental and ancestral healing. Her multidisciplinary work is deceptively simple, using sweetness and fun to prod the audience to own their imaginations. DoNormaals rapping tells stories of intergenerational tension, ancestral wounds and matriarchal glory. Their first collaboration resulted in a color-saturated, smooth-flowing story that might shift perceptions of the downtown library.
Of her new album, DoNormaal says, in this world, just like little Simba, Id do well to laugh in the face of danger. Not because its funny, but because Im strong when Im having fun.
