2019 New Plays Festival
Chicago Writers Bloc with Stockyards Theatre Project presents the 2019 New Plays Festival at City Lit Theater, 1028 Bryn Mawr, Chicago in the historic Edgewater Presbyterian Church. Presentations take place each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening from June 4 through June 26 at 7:30 P.M. Eighteen new plays by fourteen distinguished Chicago area playwrights will be presented in a staged reading format.
The festival kicks off with a benefit on Tuesday evening June 4 at 7:30 P.M. with The Glass House by June Finfer. The benefit featuring refreshments, a festival pass, a raffle and a silent auction. $25 benefit tickets can be ordered in advance through Brown Paper Tickets at www.brownpapertickets.com
All evenings for the festival the admission is $10 to the non-profit Chicago Writers Bloc. A flexible festival pass for $40 covers one admission to all the plays in the festival or 10 admissions to one or more at a time. Tickets at the door or at Brown Paper Tickets.
Valet Parking for City Lit Theater after 6 P.M. at Francescas Restaurant at Bryn Mawr and Winthrop for $10.

Paragraph 5 - Inspired by real events, this drama chronicles the perfect storm of racism, greed and fear that ripped apart neighborhoods, families, and friends in Chicago due to the mortgage redlining laws of the 1950s.

The play reveals the 48 hours when the Sins try to turn a teetering soul over to hell.
Wednesday June 19
Translations by RICHARD REARDON
The play explores the fragility of identity and belonging through the prism of three characters who must confront the difference between the homes they were born into and those they long to create.
