Rick Ruskin & Leslie Evers - "Together and Apart"
Rick Ruskin has earned the right to be called a fingerstyle guitar virtuoso. He opened for Reverend Gary Davis at Detroit's Retort Coffee House at the age of 15. The Rev was so taken by Ruskin's abilities and that he invited him to spend time at his Long Island home. His now legendary skills only tell part of the story. He is also a gifted singer, arranger, and composer whose work has been published, taught, and featured in film and TV around the world. Rick has honed his craft so that its the music audiences remember and not just flashy technique.
Leslie Evers is a poet, dramatic writer and cinema veteran, but most of all a musician whose diverse talents include songwriting, singing, swing guitar and clawhammer banjo. Leslie Evers has been strongly influenced by American roots & old-time music, as well as the melodies and themes explored in the great American songbook. Her songs create moving pictures and impart a sense of story, character, and mood. Leslie Evers lives in Northern California.
In 2014 while Rick was riffing on an old pop tune in a common area during as music seminar, a captivating voice spontaneously joined in. The voice belonged to Leslie Evers. That chance encounter was the beginning of their collaborative efforts. Since then they have been putting their unique stamp on folk, pop, blues, R&B, and of course, originals.
