An Evening with Almshouse
Almshouse plays original rock that maybe reminds you of classic 1970s female-fronted acts or modern singer-songwriters with a pop/rock edge, but the bands 2016 release "Bitter Thing" flirts with Americana while displaying a slight progressive tinge. The Almshouse trademark dual electric guitar leads that wrap harmonically around each other is used to powerful effect in the band's 2018 single "Gaslight" and the video blends images of the band with clips from the classic 1944 noir film of the same name, plus other strange visions. The band's live sets often include one or two carefully-curated covers, as well as acoustic versions of their heavier songs that showcase thoughtful lyrics, Irene Lambrou's sultry burnished alto voice, very handsome fretwork by Troy Schoenmeier, Ken Belli and Tony Winkler, and James Farrell's tasteful drumming. The band is currently recording new material for release in 2019. For more information visit www.almshousemusic.com.
