MARIE O'DONNELL -------------------------------------------- Hide The Booze, the Family's Comin' Over
The din is getting louder as each person arrives, so Marie figures this is a good time to grab a cup of the good wine hidden in her room. Mom likes that sweet headache wine, so Marie always keeps a bottle - or three - of the good stuff tucked away somewhere. But she's gotta guzzle fast and get out before her sister, Yeller Brenda, bursts in and starts screaming bible quotes at her. Will they be able to make it through the night without a catfight - or worse?
MARGA GOMEZ -------------------------------------------- The Spanking Machine
It's a cold December afternoon in Miami in the parking lot of Havana Harry's. After 40 years, Marga is meeting the first boy she ever sloppy kissed, back when he was a closeted altar boy and she was in love with a nun. Before her flight to Miami he texts that, by the way, he's had Parkinson for 10 years but it's not too bad. When he pulls up in the LYFT he shouts out the window "What's up Sugarplum?!" Once out of the car he moves with great effort on his cane. Suddenly he begins to twitch and shake wildly, his eyes rolling back and his tongue hanging out until Marga catches him in her arms. "I'm joking" he says. "Let's get some lunch"
SCOTT COHEN -------------------------------------------- Colorful Grandparents and Black & White Television
What do you mean you don't remember Fatty Arbuckle? Scotts grandfather shouted, loudly enough for the entire diner to hear. Although it had been fifty years since the murder trial ended Arbuckles movie career, seven year old Scott knew better than to make excuses. He apologized and sat silently in the booth waiting for his grandfather to regain his composure. Scott knew his grandfather's next sentence would be important and must be committed to memory.
KENNY YUN -------------------------------------------- The Couch Potato Panda Rituals
Kenny is paralyzed on the couch day after day. Having Ramen doordashed again and again. Bay Area new-agers told him to move on so it should be easy. Texting him memes of rainbows and unicorns fixes everything, right?
