Hineh Ma Tov: A Night of Joyful Jewish Learning
Join us for a 1st annual Shavuot gathering. One way that the Jewish holiday of Shavuot is observed is by staying up late and learning together during the evening--an event which is called a Tikkun Leil Shavuot.
Traditionally, Torah study is the main way of learning. For our gathering you will be able to attend your choice of classes in Jewish cooking, yoga, and art in addition to Torah study. Teachers include: Rabbi Ariel Stone, Rabbi Brian Mayer, Maggidah Cassandra Sagan, Yoga Instructor Rachel Stern. A full schedule will be posted in late May.
Another tradition on Shavuot is to eat dairy based foods. We will be serving blintzes between classes! Registration is requested so we know you are coming. The sliding scale is $5-$15 to be more accessible to all in our community. Please pay on the high end or more if you are able!
Children's programming will continue throughout the evening. If you are bringing children, please add their ages in your comments!
Some gluten free and dairy free treats will be available.
Limited street parking is available. We do recommend public transportation, bicycles, walking, if possible!
Co-sponsored by Congregation Shir Tikvah, TischPDX, The Alberta Shul, Moishe House and Portland Jewish Yoga Collective.
