Building Tour: Hillsboro High School
Thursday, June 20th 6:00pm Hillsboro High School | Architect - ARTifice
After a 10 year campaign by the parents of Hillsboro High School, the addition and renovation of the high school began in 2018. The three phase project includes 165,000 square feet of new construction and 141,000 square feet of renovation. A two-story interior courtyard connects the old with the new and is the main orienting device for the students. A new library, cafeteria, gym, main office, and classrooms complete the first phase. The second phase renovates all of the original historic portion of the building designed by Nashville architect Edwin Keeble in 1953. Lastly, the third phase adds an elevated artificial turf playing field with covered parking, new football, softball, and tennis facilities as well as completion of the rain gardens, parking, and site edges.
PPE required - bring a hard hat and suitable footwear (does not need to be steel toe).
There is a parking area just off Glen Echo on the north end of the school through the construction entrance.
Presented by the AIA MidTN EP committee.
