Voices from the Heart Concert - Time Now That We Thrive!
Voices from the Heart, Portsmouth's own 200-voiced women's chorus, will celebrate in joyous song on June 1st at South Church, in Portsmouth at 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm.
"This past January, Voices was very sad to lose one of our long-time members, Ann Hopkins, who sang with Voices for over twenty years," says founding director Joanne Connolly, "Ann was always up to something...something good!" One of Ann's pet projects was creation of Seacoast Family Promise, a non-profit organization aimed at empowering families with children experiencing homelessness to achieve sustainable independence.
To celebrate Ann's vision of a world where all should be given the chance to thrive, Voices sings "Time Now That We Thrive!, partnering with Seacoast Family Promise. The Time Now That We Thrive! concert embraces the idea of a world with family promise' supported and held in love by the greater community, a world where all are given the resources, and protection to thrive. Songs include Bella Mama; a sweet Croatian lullaby called Ako si Legla Spat; and a gorgeous Jamaican piece, Fi Mi Love, about a mother's 'lion heart' for her children. Along with Voices will be pianist Agnes Charlesworth, Randy Armstrong on guitar and percussion, Jon Booth on bass, and Drummama, adding the African beat!
Don't miss Voices' spring concert, sure to uplift and celebrate the human spirit! Tickets will sell out!
$12.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door. **************** For any questions, contact Joanne Connolly at 207-408-7523.
