Possessed by Paul James: The mix of roots and emotional electricity at a Possessed by Paul James show is akin to a live electric socket missing its cover as stripped wires spark with flickers of enthralling danger. "Musically, Wert's reached a new level of possession. His violin: angelic. His banjo: a brothel romp. The lyrics present a thoughtful meditation on life from a most vulnerable vantage point, one that bombards you with realities of love, responsibility, isolation, and gratitude." Timeless - Austin Chronicle 2013 Konrad Wert came up with the Possessed by Paul James moniker as a way to channel the spirits of his late grandfather, Paul, and his father, James. Indeed, whether Wert is percussively stomping on an old wooden box, sawing a dusty fiddle, picking a banjo, or yelping a song as his head bobs and weaves from a seated position, fans are never under the impression they are seeing and hearing something of this earthly realm.
Tom Vandenavond is a contemporary ghost with a wisdom in his music that exceeds his years. His sound embodies the nature of solitary travel and the inevitable connections made from a life on the road. He has torn through his Midwest roots and created an auditory imprint of the highways and byways, truck stops and roadsides of the afforded white line spectacles of the American construct.
Ona Stewart: Ona Stewart is a raw energetic performer his songwriting is a mix of heartfelt honesty, clever humor and stories of debauchery, tragedy and dirt. Born in the Santa Cruz Mountains he is a founding member of bands The Naked Bootleggers, Horchata and Rattle Can. He is a longtime contributor and supporter of the underground American roots music and progressive art rock movement. His performances are an energetic reflection of the audience surroundings. Known for late night picking and improv collaborations we can expect a few surprises.
