Brittany Anjou Trio: Enamigo in Kittery
First Enamio Reciprokataj show ever in Kittery! Esperanto jazz meets lobster rock stars.

Pianist composer Brittany Anjou returns from a 7 month residency in Kuwait, for the release and tour of her critically acclaimed original piano jazz DEBUT trio album, Enamigxo Reciprokataj on Origin Records! Cool jazz piano, plus fun eclectic femme punk surprises! With New York vet John Mettam on drums, and bassist Rob Gerry. This is her second annual tour stop in the New England area, glad to return since recent area years of fun with The Shaggs and Bi TYRANT.

Brittany Anjou is a Brooklyn based composer, pianist, vibraphonist, multi-instrumentalist, jazz educator and improviser. Exploring everything from Duke Ellington to Bikini Kill in her solo repertoire, this creative, versatile, and virtuoso performer hails from Seattle. In February of 2019, Anjou released Enamio Reciprokataj on the Origin Records label, which received the Editor's pick on Jazz Times, with critical reviews on DownBeat Magazine, All About Jazz, and France Musique, calling her a virtuoso, "visionary," highly sophisticated and years strongest debut.  The album has reached 132 on Jazz Week and is climbing.

She's happy to lay waste to the instrument when that's what's called for: Reciprokataj IV: Olive You begins with a display of power that would mark the summit of most players performances. - DownBeat Magazine

Enamigo Reciprokataj is the work of a daring 35 year-old visionary. Anjou is a channel, a portal, extending joy and exhilaration for anyone with ears to hear. Melodies flow through her like the windwe have much to learn from her.
-Jazz Times

While we've barely opened the door to 2019, we already have a serious contender for the year's strongest debut here. - All About Jazz

Anjous composition are read as a series of points of view on the art of the trio. With its minimalist rehearsals, it is an anthology of songs both dreamlike and alert, where free-jazz meets Rachmaninoff and electronics.
- France Musique

Anjou is a virtuosa with a determined touch and nimble liveliness. This accomplished body of work, which took 13 years to be completed, is sufficiently gratifying to make us wonder what her next plans are.
