Charting a Course for Portland's Future
The future of Portland will be our discussion topic as the Natural Step welcomes VisionPDX for a special interactive breakfast meeting. Initiated by Portland Mayor Tom Potter, VisionPDX is a project led by a group of 50+ community volunteers who are passionate about Portland. Over the coming months, VisionPDX will be reaching out to people in all parts of the city and in all walks of life. The goal is to define the city we want to live in and to develop a strategic plan to get there. As people focused on sustainability, TNS members have a special perspective to offer- we're used to planning for the future. We use Natural Step Principles as a compass to navigate a sustainable course. We start with "backcasting" to envision what sustainability looks like for our companies and organizations, and then we steer toward that vision. Can we do the same for our city? This is your chance to try. We're challenging you to paint a picture of what a sustainable Portland could be in 30 years.
We'll start the breakfast with a short introduction to VisionPDX, then it will be your turn. We will take advantage of our roundtable seating to give each table an opportunity to create its vision, with assistance from facilitators. At 9:15 the tables will have an opportunity to share a few thoughts with the entire group. A written report via email will be provided to all attendees after the results have been gathered.
So shine up your crystal ball, pack your Natural Step compass and chart a course for Portland's future.
