Gideon, a rogue American ambassador, is utilizing an international spy network to covertly install a central bank in Suren, a fictional country based on contemporary Iran. When he visits two years later he discovers that the politician he bought, Samiar, now openly exposes him while his field agent, Naima, is operating at the heart of a wider spiritual coup.
