LitSpace Literary Arts Institute at Morean Arts Center
Saint Petersburg, FL
Share this event:

Are you a writer seeking to find your inner performer or a seasoned performer attempting to stage your writing? Either way, this lab is for you. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a gamut of presentation skills by focusing on the unique aspects of their own voice. Instructor Jeffrey Steiger will facilitate interactive exercises in a safe and comfortable environment such as methods for combatting stage fright, fostering confidence, realizing vocality, and tapping hidden meaning in writing through gesture and staging. Feel free to reach out with any questions: Jsteiger@mfa.gwu.edu.

About the Instructor:
Jeffrey Allen Steiger is Artistic Director of The New Theater of Medicine and Founding Artistic Director of the CRLT Players. Mr. Steiger has written and directed a diverse range of spoken word performances and plays, and has presented at over 100 institutions including Harvard, Stanford and the University of Nagoya, Japan. A few of his multi-disciplinary artistic collaborations include a study with neuroscientist Dr. Sari Van Anders to determine potential changes in testosterone and cortisol levels in actors performing roles related to gender and power, and a project with Robert Mankoff, editor of the New Yorker Cartoons, on how theatrical improvisation might be used to capture Mankoff's ideas about humor.

Saturday, May 18 (1:00pm-3:00pm).
