Comedy Returns to El Rio! is a popular monthly comedy show produced by Kung Pao Kosher Comedy's Lisa Geduldig at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District every third Friday of the month. Showcasing an eclectic mix of intelligent comedians from the Bay Area and beyond, the event was created in order to bring back to life a comedy show that used to take place at El Rio in the 1980s and 1990s. The Bay Area Reporter (BAR) recently named the show Best Comedy Night for the second consecutive year.
On Friday June 21st, The 10th Annual Obligatory June Gay Comedy Show features Bob McIntyre, Dom Gelin, David Hawkins, Angie Krass, and Lisa Geduldig.
Bob McIntyre, a favorite at Comedy Returns to El Rio, is a San Francisco-based waiter, comic, and occasional actor who is currently binge watching his recently purchased 38-disc, 325-episode Mary Hartman Mary Hartman box set. He currently sees everything in shades of avocado green, mustard yellow, and burnt orange with a waxy yellow buildup. He is single.
Dom Gelin is a comedian and writer based in Oakland. She enjoys offering strong opinions on stupid things, -isms, and jerks. She has performed at the All Jane Comedy Festival, Bostons Women in Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest, KQED, and others. She also touched the stage of a really famous comedy club that one time.
David Hawkins has been a creative presence in San Francisco since his first play, Beach Party on The Black Lagoon was produced by Life on The Water at Fort Mason in 1991. He has produced original work as a painter, playwright, illustrator, and stand up comedian and has appeared at the SF Punchline, the Comedy Store, The Queer Arts Festival, SF Pride, Trannyshack, and Klubstitute. David is currently assembling 7 years worth of poetry, cartoons and philosophy into his first book entitled "Low Budget, High Concept." He is the thinking person's dummy.
Angie Krass, the Mississippi Madam of Mayhem, has never been one to play by the rules or live life by the norms. Her adventures have generally been a case of wrong city, wrong state, wrong country, OR wrong bed. Once strong-willed and full of hope, she has now been chiseled down to strong drinks and bawdy jokes. Angie was hailed by the San Francisco Chronicle as Superior Southern Fried Comedy for her show Its a Scratch and Sniff World. You can also catch her antics at Cobbs Comedy Club and Comedy Oakland.
Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer whos the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy™ (which celebrates its 27th Annual shows this December), Comedy Returns to El Rio, and the monthly comedy show, Comedy at Ashkenaz! on the second Thursday of the month at Ashkenaz in Berkeley. Lisa moonlights as a freelance arts publicist.
