Old Pueblo Playwrights Mini-New Play Festival - The Last Aloha
The Last Aloha--'This is not a drill'
On Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at 8:07 am, the Emergency Alert System and Commercial Mobile Alert System warned of an incoming ballistic missile threat to Hawaii and advised residents to seek shelter: "This is not a drill." Though no civil defense outdoor warning sirens sounded, the alert panicked Hawaiians until a second message 38 minutes later called the first a "false alarm." State officials blamed a HEMA drill miscommunication.
The Last Aloha Mini Fest features four original, unproduced plays by OPP members that are variations on this theme.
Performances are staged readings where actors perform script in hand. Short post-performance talkbacks enable audiences to give direct feedback to the playwright and help the play move to full production and Broadway!
