Daniel MacIvors A Beautiful View
Shotgun Juliet (@shotgunjuliet on all platforms), the company that brought you last years Jewel by Joan MacLeod, and outdoor physical theatre experience The Forest For the Trees with the Toronto Arts Council, brings Daniel MacIvors A Beautiful View to Alumnae Theatre this Pride Month as a Pride Toronto Community event.
A Beautiful View is the story of a serendipitous relationship between two people. After meeting in a camping store and immediately discovering mutual interests and fears, they are swept into a life long relationship unlike either of them had before, or will have again. Sounds romantic, maybe. But no relationship is a fairy taleor is it? Will they transcend societys labels to be together, or will they be ripped apart by their fears? Not quite.
Written by Daniel MacIvor, Canadian Queer theatre Icon, founding artistic director of revolutionary company da da kamera, and prolific writer of plays such as Marion Bridge and Here Lies Henry, and most recently New Magic Valley Fun Town at Tarragon Theatre.
A Beautiful View is a masterpiece in vaguery, hilariously commenting on the way we see ourselves because of other people, and bravely allowing regular people to be our heroes.
