Adanu Habobo + Muevete Marimba
NOTE: the advance tickets are nearly sold-out, if not already by the time you read this. If you are unsuccessful in buying advance tickets there will be limited number of 20 tickets available at the door.
Vancouver drum and dance ensemble Adanu Habobo returns with a night full of invigorating dancing and drumming from the North and South of Ghana. Joining the ensemble will be guest artists Awal Alhassan and Sheimawu Abubakari...a duo of experienced Dagomba dancers and drummers from the north of Ghana.
Extra special guest for this concert will be Vodzi Torgboh, a phenomenal drummer-dancer-singer from Ghana who will is visiting Canada for the first time.
Opening the evening will be Muevete Marimba a youth marimba group led by Robin Layne performing a mix of African, Latin American and original music for marimba ensemble.
At 7pm there will be a free pre-show Ghanaian dance workshop.
For those wanting a deeper experience of Ghana, tantalizing eats will be up for sale by Taste of Africa (vegetarian options available). Food sales are CASH ONLY and will be available all evening (or until the food runs out).
