The Little Road: TAOS PERFORMANCE
The Little Road: Songs of Journey and Home is a unique collaboration between Boulder, CO, women's a cappella ensemble Sound Circle and Taos'Shepherd Moon. Fresh, fun, warm, and reassuring, it's a concert with a dazzling range of styles and colors, grounded in simple presence.
Sound Circle is a 19-voice women's a cappella ensemble based in Boulder, Colorado, directed by Sue Coffee. Singing together for 25 years, Sound Circle offers music that speaks of their experience of the world, with attention to authentic voice and awareness of the healing power of ensemble singing. Most of their music is contemporary, and much of it is created by women. Sound Circle performances are consistently noted for their creativity and depth of programming, as well as their warmth, freshness, and beauty. For more information about Sound Circle, see soundcirclesings.org.
Shepherd Moon features the multi-talented musicians Becky Reardon, Julie Hawley, and Joan Zucker. The group creates lush sonic layers of harp, cello, guitar and vocals as they weave joyous, sensuous, and mindful original songs with popular Celtic airs and classical/jazz tunes to create a cross-genre musical feast.
Sound Circle and Shepherd Moon's Becky Reardon have had a musical friendship for many years. Sound Circle has performed many of Becky's songs, and Becky was a featured guest artist for multiple performances of Sound Circle's "Path of Beauty: Singing the Grand Canyon" concert in Boulder several years ago. A joint performance in Taos has been in their imagination since that earlier collaboration.
