A Cappella Charity Concert for St. James' Academy
Please join us for an amazing musical event -- featuring the talents of five award-winning a cappella groups from DC and Maryland, and with all proceeds benefiting the children of West Baltimore through the work of the non-profit St. James' Academy.
This concert will feature a diversity of singers and styles of vocal music, from contemporary music to gospel, from . This concert will feature the talents of one high-school group (Evolve), two collegiate groups (Loyola Belles and JHU Notes of Ranvier), and two adult groups (Mutual Agreement and Ember). Reception to follow the concert.
St. James' Academy is a program dedicated to helping children in the Lafayette Square, Harlem Park, Sandtown-Winchester and Upton neighborhoods reach their potential by offering academic and cultural enrichment through a variety of experiences that spark their intellectual curiosity.

Loyola Belles The Belles are Loyola University Maryland's only female a cappella group and Loyola's first a cappella group. The Belles strive to make music that not only entertains, but spreads positivity and female empowerment.
Ember Ember is a 6-piece vocal band based in Baltimore, MD. Formed in December 2017, the band aims to curate high quality, impressive, and progressive musical content supplemented by energetic and nuanced live performances. Each person brings a distinct array of experience, expertise, and inspiration to the group's sound, with members ranging from exemplary students at The Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University to a nationally-ranked beatboxer and an award-winning producer. With their pop-tinged sound and never-ending list of influences, Ember seeks to serve as an incubator and quality outlet for Baltimore's most motivated and talented young singers and bring its unique vision for vocal music to stages around the world.
Evolve Evolve is the only Contemporary A Cappella group at Chesapeake High School. They were formed 3 years ago and entertain their audiences with a variety of popular music, whether it's pure pop, alternative, R&B and many others. In spring 2018, they were named the best a cappella group in Maryland at the International Championship for High School A Cappella Mid-Atlantic Quarterfinal in La Plata, Maryland. Last year, they were invited to perform as a guest group at Deke Sharon's Total Vocal Experience in New York City where they had the opportunity to sing for 3,000 people.
Mutual Agreement Mutual Agreement were formed in 1993, to spread the Word of God through song, bringing hope, strength and encouragement to all who will listen. Mutual Agreement has ministered in various parts of the country and performed with national recording artists such as Daryl Coley, Wintley Phipps, Sounds of Blackness, CeCe Winans and Hezekiah Walker. The group has appeared on "Showtime at the Apollo" and the "Breath of Life Telecast," as well as at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. and was awarded for their participation in the celebration of Black History at the U.S. Department of State by former Secretary of State Madeline Albright.
Notes of Ranvier The Notes of Ranvier are Johns Hopkins' premier community service a cappella group! The Notes are dedicated to aiding the community through music, and perform at assisted living facilities, schools and hospitals--even occasionally busking in the Inner Harbor and donating all proceeds to foundations such as the Johns Hopkins Childrens' Center. We also participate in Homewood Performing Arts, putting on a concert at the end of each semester, and performing for nonprofit events at the university.
